The Power of Me: Why Being Yourself is Enough

We’ve all doubted ourselves. We compare ourselves to others. We seek perfection yet don’t take risks out of fear of failure. We settle for less because we think that’s what we deserve. No, we don’t directly say, “Self, you’re only worthy of less.” However, our actions or the lack of activation speaks that very thing to our inner spirit.

In our desperation to receive acceptance, we fail to demand it from the one person whose opinion of us matters the most. Who is the person who ultimately empowers us to succeed (aside from God)? It’s ourselves. Yes, even God needs a little something to work with – YOU!

Here’s why being yourself is enough and why you should work towards self-acceptance:

You Succeed Every Time

When you are in tune with who you are, you align your efforts with your abilities. When you are self-aware, you challenge yourself to meet what you know you are capable of. And when you believe in yourself, you envision so much more than what you have because you know you deserve it. You succeed every time because you don’t deny yourself nor do you set yourself up to fail. Crazy thought – you can’t fail at being yourself.  You were made intuitively aware of your “superpowers” – – trust your gut!

There Is No Competition

We compare ourselves to just about everyone to no end. You want that celebrity’s body, reach your cousin’s level of financial success, have a family as beautiful as your sister’s, and even the neighbour’s car.

Comparing and competing can become exhausting. Find peace within yourself and recognize your unique needs. Do you want these things for your own fulfilment or so you can then be the envy of others? When you think of your personal success and how it can fulfil your needs, you’ll discover that there is no competition required.

You’re One of a Kind

You are so unique, and once you stop second-guessing yourself, you’ll discover that it’s what gives you your edge over everyone else. You weren’t put on this earth to copy someone else’s vision or steal someone else’s dreams. Your mission is entirely your own, especially designed for you to execute. Yes, God made you and broke the mould. No one can do what you do, the way you do it!

You Alone Hold the Answers

We find ourselves constantly asking others for advice. But do we do it for guidance or for reassurance that we won’t be judged for our decisions later? Too often, we invite too many opinions that don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. There are these cute little girls, sisters, who have become a social media sensation for their videos giving advice to adult challenges.  In short, their often quoted refrain is, “Don’t call Tyrone. You better call Jesus!”  It’s adorable to watch, but the message is resonating. If you have a question about your purpose and destiny – go to your manufacturer for the answers.

It’s the Only Path to Personal Fulfillment

Self-acceptance is incredibly empowering. Authenticity is a word that gets thrown around a lot. But it’s absolutely valuable and necessary for your personal fulfilment. When we are our true selves, we are most content. We don’t have to play games, stifle our creativity, or cheat ourselves out of experiences.

Strengthen your belief system and be your own biggest fan. Believe in yourself and take action. Live in harmony as you align with your beliefs and values. Stop conforming to other people’s expectations. Establish your own boundaries!
